Goan TT contingent felicitated


PANAJI: Goan athletes who  won medals at the National Khelo India Table Tennis U-14 and U-17  tournament, held in Guwahati, Assam, were felicitated at the hands of V  M Prabhu Desai, Executive Director, SAG; Satyawan Talwadkar, Joint  Director Accounts, SAG; Bruno Coutinho, Joint Director Coaching, SAG;  Monica Lobo e Dourado, Project Officer Women, SAG). In the U-17 Boys,  Wesley Do Rosario won the gold in singles, while he also claimed a  silver in the doubles partnering Mandar Joshi. The Goan team comprising  of Wesley, Mandar, Jayz Irine Gomes Pereira and Gaganesh Dhulapkar won  the silver in team championship. In U-14 Boys, Nilay P Kamat, Vaidik  Shrivastava, Supreet Naik and Ved Sardesai won a bronze in the team  championship.In U-14 girls, the team of Taniya Patil, Sanisha S. Shetye,  Janvi Naik Dalal and Aditi Chodankar also won a bronze in team  championship. Taniya and Sanisha finished third in girls’ doubles. 


Pedem, Kalika XI enter quarters  
MARGAO: RCC Pedem and Kalika XI won their matches to cruise into the quarter-finals of the 16th Sanguem limited overs cricket tournament organized by Sanguem Cricketers. At Sanguem Cricket Academy ground, Pedem easily outplayed Mangalmurti Cricketers by a huge margin of 82 runs. They posted 209 for 6 in 18 overs with Saurabh Bandekar scoring a quick-fire 80. In reply, Mangalmurti were restricted to 127 for 5 in 18 overs. An all-round effort from Ninad Pawaskar fetched him the Man of the match award. In another one-sided match, Kalika XI beat host Sanguem Cricketers by 8 wickets. Sanguem could post only 106, which was easily overhauled by Kalika XI batsmen. 


Swimming classes at Utorda from April 19  
PANAJI: United Club of Utorda will conduct swimming classes for kids and grown-ups at Maiden Meadow Complex, Utorda from April 19 (timings: 7 am to 9 am). The classes will be conducted Carlos Noronha, Emy Pereira is the project manager. For details, contact Agnelo Pereira (9822102864).  

 
Anjuman win
MARGAO: Anjuman Himaytul Islam HS of Baina defeated Mata Secondary School by 23 runs to emerge winners of the U-14 Mormugao Zone inter school President Trophy cricket tournament organized by Goa Cricket Association. At MPT ground, Anjuman HI HS scored 151 runs in 33.1 overs and then dismissed Mata secondary School to 128 runs.
Brief scores: Anjuman Himaytul Islam HS, 151 all out in 33.1 overs (Hanif Mohammad 28, Sameer Mohammad 23, Abubaker Shaikh 21; Vaibhav Dhumal 3-33, Anand Dhuri 3-26, Rohan Bind 2-31, Siva saroj 1-31, Vishal Chodankar 1-22) beat Mata Secondary School, 128 all out in 36.1 overs (Vaibhav Dhumal 27, Vishal Chodankar 12, Satish Bind 19 not out, Anand Dhuri 12; Sami Shaikh 3-33, Khutbuddin Jamadar 2-24, Hanif Mohammad 2-24, Saqib Mohiddin 2-15).
