Goa’s Tanisha-Lydia win historic silver

Tanisha Crasto and Lydia Barreto of Goa put up a sparkling performance to emerge U-15 Girls doubles SIlver medal winners at the All India Sub-Junior Ranking Badminton Tournament 2017 which concluded on August 30 at Jaipur, Rajasthan.

 This is the first time in its history, Goa has won a silver medal in the National Ranking circuit in U-15 girls doubles. Tanisha also emerged bronze medal winner in the Under 15 girls singles category, a commendable performance from the young Goan shuttler who is playing in her maiden year in all India circuit.
In U15 girls singles, Tanisha knocked out Kaivalya Lakshmi Yadavalli (8 seed) 21-15, 21-12 in the pre-quarters, followed by a 21-14, 21-15 win over Adya Bhargava (14) in the quarters. She lost to eventual winner Kriti Bharadwaj (6) 24-22, 21-12 in the semis. In Under 15 girls doubles, Tanisha and Lydia beat Tasnim Mir/Anupama Upadhyaya 21-17, 21-19 in the semis. In the finals, the Goan pair went down to top seeds Kriti Bharadwaj/Tanya Hemanth 21-16,21-10.
