George Lopez outburst at a his live show at the Phoenix's Celebrity theatre is trending online and for the wrong reasons. The comedian made a racially fuelled joke where he spoke about how there are only two rules in the Latino family, not to marry a black person and not to park in front their house. However, things took a nasty turn after a woman in the audience took offence and stood up among the laughing audience, gave Lopez the middle finger, sparking him to abuse her. Lucas was quick to tell her to shut up or get out, adding that if she can't take a joke she was in the wrong place. However, he didn’t stop there before eventually kicking the unidentified woman out of the venue. Ever since the footage went viral, Twitterati lashed out at Lopez, who has now found himself in the middle of a heated debate around anti-blackness in comedy.
"if you can't take a joke, you're in the wrong place." - george lopez, while not telling jokes for a full minute.
What's more concerning is that no one in the crowd challenged George's anti -Blackness. It's all too common int he NB-Chicanx/Latinx communities.
It's not the anti-Black "joke" George Lopez made but the visceral disgust and sheer hatred in his voice for over a minute that sickened me.
George Lopez called a woman a bitch. He should be careful with that kind of behaviour or he might up end up becoming president.
