Goa State-ranked table tennis player Gautam Wadkar has successfully completed the six-week NIS Certification Course in Table Tennis, in West Bengal. Gautam is a State ranked player who represented Goa at the UTT 87th Senior National & Inter-State Table Tennis Championships 2025, held at Indore, Madhya Pradesh, from March 14 to 21, 2026.
"I joined the State Khelo India State Centre of Excellence (KISCE) in 2023 and, over the last two years, I have been learning coaching skills while assisting the Head Coach there. It has helped me in my game as well. My aim is to train many youngsters at the grassroots level and increase the pool of competitive players in Goa,” said Gautam.
Goa Table Tennis Association Vice President and President of North Goa District Table Tennis Council Mayur Sawkar congratulated Gautam on completing the course. “Gautam is hardworking and travels daily from Pernem. When KISCE was at Campal, he would travel more than three hours every day, which shows his enormous commitment and dedication towards the sport. We must encourage and support youngsters like Gautam who are willing to work hard, learn and take up responsibilities to contribute to the growth of the sport. We wish him every success in his coaching journey and hope he will inspire many more youngsters to take up table tennis,” said Sawkar.
