Guardian Angel Sports Club scored a 2-1 hard fought victory over Peddem Bomm Sports Club to clinch the 17th London Trophy 2025 inter village football tournament, organised by Goa Velha Sports Club.
Cyril Dias put Guardian Angel Sports Club ahead when he dribbled past the Peddem Bomm Sports Club goalkeeper Soma Korgaonkar and shot into the nets in the 24th minute. Guardian Angel Sports Club led by a solitary goal at the break.
Milroy Clement made it 2-0 in favour of Guardian Angel Sports Club when he cooly slotted past the Anjuna keeper Soma Korgaonkar in the 40th minute of play. Peddem Bomm Sports Club came all out in search of a goal and succeeded in reducing the margin through Mohammad Adur to make it 1-2. Peddem Bomm Sports Club went all out in search of the equaliser but found the Guardian Angel keeper Rasal Fernandes a hard nut to crack. Rasal Fernandes who was manning the Guardian Angel goal came up with a brilliant double save which kept Guardian Angel ahead and eventually sealed the win for his team.
Godwin Fernandes of Guardian Angel Sports Club and Samuel D'Souza of Peddem Bomm Sports Club were cautioned by the match referee Rohidas Bhomkar who was well assisted by Roshan Pednekar and Shravan Lamani. Jan Rodrigues was the fourth official.
The Chief Guest Dimitris Dimitriou (Head Coach of Churchill Brothers SC) gave away the Winners Prize of Rs. 1,00,000 to Guardian Angel Sports Club along with the Trophy. Guest of Honour Fr. Antonio Francisco Albuquerque gave away the Runners Up Prize of Rs. 80,000 to Peddem Bomm Sports Club along with the Trophy.
Andre Evaristo Pereira (Sarpanch of St. Andre Village Panchayat), Agnelo Fernandes (Deputy Sarpanch of St. Andre Village Panchayat), Iyno John De Souza, Emilia Caiado, Monica Miranda (Panchas of St. Andre Village Panchayat), Anthony Francis Vas, Omkar Rohidas Vaigankar, Laxman Tulshidas Hadfadkar (Executive Committee Members of GFA), Lamgoulen Semkholun (Captain of Churchill Brothers SC), Rajnish Lawande (Prop. RPL Fabricators), Raymond Caiado (Social Worker), Andre Silva, Jose Silva, Elvis Rego (Villagers based in the United Kingdom) graced the Finals as our esteemed Guests. The Guests were given Mementos as a token of appreciation by the Club.
