Guardian Angel Sports Club secured a place in the semi-finals of the 2nd Mansion House Cup 2026 after edging United Club Verna 8-7 in a thrilling sudden-death penalty shootout at Cuncolim Government School Ground. The quarter-final ended 1-1 after regulation time.
UC Verna had an early opportunity in the 25th minute, but Clyton Rebello’s effort sailed over the crossbar. Guardian Angel SC took the lead in the 45th minute when Sheldon Fernandes converted a free kick delivered by Milroy Clemente.
Verna responded three minutes into the second half, with Roydon Rego restoring parity after receiving a fine assist from Josloy Moniz.
With the scores level, the match proceeded to a penalty shootout. Both teams converted their initial spot kicks, with Guardian Angel SC eventually prevailing in sudden death.
For Verna, Deswyn Pereira, Aylan Sayed, Josloy Moniz, Roydon Rego, Johann Abranches, Mecklito D Costa and Sheldon Pereira found the net.
Guardian Angel’s successful penalty takers were Jackson Vaz, Fhezer Gomes, Norman Dias, Valentino Carvalho, Sheldon Fernandes, Ivo Costa, Adriano Gomes and Milroy Clemente.
Guardian Angel SC’s Oswin Rodrigues was named Man of the Match, receiving the award from Nathan Dias of VJT Arts.
Guardian Angel SC will play their semi-final on September 23 against the winner of the quarter-final between Don Bosco Oratory and Betalbatim Sporting Club, scheduled for September 21.
