Hosts Dando Boys edge past St Anthony's

Hosts Dando Boys Club of Benaulim edged past St Anthony's Sports Club, Assolda 1-0 to advance into the semi-finals of All Goa 21st Dando Boys Cup inter-village football tournament organized by Dando Boys Club of Benaulim at St John Baptist Dando-Grounds, Benaulim on Wednesday. Valencio Afonso struck the match-winner.

Both the teams started the game on a cautious note. Incessant rains made life miserable for both the teams as they struggled to display positional play.
Both the teams had few attempts at either end as the teams retired at lemon break without scoring.
The second session continued in the same vein with both the teams going occasionally for attacks with the teams adopting safety approach. With time running out and egged on by home crowds, Dando Boys Club of Benaulim made a last ditch effort when Velencio Afonso unleashed a powerful shot that beat the rival goalkeeper hands down in the 54th minute.
Stunned by the goal, St Anthony's Sports Club went all out in search of equalizer but rival defenders frustrated their attack.
