India U-16 to play 2 matches in Cairo

The India U-16 team will play two matches as part of the India-Egypt Friendship Cup 2017 in Cairo, Egypt. The first match kicks-off on April 22 against Egypt’s Al-Ahly Club in Nasr City, Cairo, before the Colts lock horns against Smouha Club the following day in Alexandria.

MARGAO: The 23-member Indian squad will be leaving for Cairo today and will have their first training session on April 21, before facing Al-Ahly. Meanwhile, the Indian U-16 National Team lost 2-5 against the Indian U-19 National Team in a practice match at SAG Holy Trinity Grounds, Benaulim on Wednesday.

FIFA ‘evaluating’ AIFF request to stage India ties in Delhi

World football governing body FIFA on Wednesday said it was “evaluating” India’s request to stage the group matches of Under-17 World Cup involving the national team in the national capital, but asserted that it will have the final say on the matter.
