Even as FC Goa fans are basking in the glory of the 7-0 whitewash of Mumbai City FC last Tuesday, the Indian Super League produced more frenzy in the as a motorcade carrying the glittering trophy for the eight-team league trophy arrived here to a grand welcome.
The trophy was unveiled at Wheel Magnets, Porvorim in an event attended by Armando Colaco, former India, East Bengal and Dempo coach, along with Anna Thakur, partner Wheel Magnets; Nitin Kaushal, marketing manager, west zone, Hero Motorcorp, and Joe Dias, VJT Arts Managment Event Management.
The motorcade travelled through Aldona, Bicholim, Sanquelim and then proceeded to the hinterland Ponda via Ribander, Banastarim onwards to Ponda before returning to Old Goa. On Saturday, the trophy will make its presence felt in the theatre of action -- Margao and its suburban areas where the fans will get a chance to have a closer look at the coveted trophy, they are hoping their loved Gaurs will bring home this edition.
Former India captain Mauricio Afonso, who is now the head coach of Dempo Sports Club, will get the honour of receiving the trophy at Hero showroom, Verna at 10.30 am. The trophy will tour Borda, Margao Muncipal Gardens, Quepem, Sanvordem and Sanguem. From here, the trophy will then travel to the port city of Vasco on Sunday, November 22.
