A fine brace by Pearl Fernandes helped Goa thrashed Ladakh 5-0 and qualified for the semifinal of Tie ll Group of Junior Girl's National football championship, at Umaid Stadium, Rajasthan on Tuesday .
With this win Goa finished their engagement with 9 points and topped the group.
The Goa coach rested some key players and introduced fresh legs and their reserve players did not dissapoint.
Jonathan Faleiro's girls did not wait for long as they opened the flood gates when profolic striker Fatima Braganza slotted past the rival goalkeeper with a snap shot in the 36th minute Riya Patre added her name on the scorer list when she shot the ball to the far corner of the net in the first half injury time .
Goa continued in the same vein with key striker Pearl Fernandes who had good outing through out the tournament struck twice in the 24th and 34th minutes to register her brace Goa suffered a blow in the 60th minute when Fatima Braganza suffered an ankle injury and will remain a doubt for the semi-finals. Anuskka Dharwadkar fired the final nail in the 65th minute to troop out worthy winners.
Goa will now meet Assam in the semi-finals on October 13 in Jaipur.
Goa coach Jonathan Faleiro expressed his satisfaction with the team's consistency as they qualified for the semi-final as they maintained an unbeaten streak through out the championship .
"I am really happy with the consistency. It's not easy because there are some teams that aim for the topbut you play them and do a good job. I am really proud of the performance the girls showcased." Faleiro concluded.
