MARGAO: Quepem Veterans scored twice in the dying minutes to secure a 2-0 victory over Legends Veterans in the veterans’ football tournament organised by TEG Amigos Verna at Verna Panchayat Ground.
In a fiercely contested encounter, both teams created several attacking opportunities but failed to find the breakthrough for most of the match.
With the game seemingly headed for a goalless draw, Cardozo broke the deadlock with a crucial strike to put Quepem ahead. Within a minute, Rosario Carvalho sealed the win with a stunning long-range volley that flew past the Legends goalkeeper, completing a decisive late double for Quepem.
Rosario Carvalho was adjudged Man of the Match and received the award from Casmiro Dias, general secretary of United Club of Verna.
