
Vilas Satarkar, Principal of Dr K B Hedgewar School, inaugurates the Liberation Cup in the presence of Queens Club officials.

Top seed Joshua Mark Telles, along with Shayakberov Anar, Mohd Khaja Abdul Latheef S, Supriyo Das, WCM Gunjal Chopdekar, AFM Vasant Naik, Aarav Chopdekar, Satyam Phal and Kanishk Sagar, maintained their seeding positions after winning all three of their games at the end of Day 1 of the Liberation Cup chess tournament. The event is being organised by the Queens Chess and Cultural Club at Dr K B Hedgewar School, Cujira.
The tournament was inaugurated by chief guest Vilas Satarkar, Principal of Dr K B Hedgewar School, in the presence of Dr Roopa Belurkar, President of Queens Chess and Cultural Club, and other club members. Satarkar also made the ceremonial opening move with top seed Telles.
On the occasion, the Queens Chess and Cultural Club felicitated Satarkar for receiving the National-level Best Teacher Award from the President of India, Droupadi Murmu. The inaugural function was compered by Dr Pradnya Kakodkar, Vice-President of the Queens Club.
