Lloyd Fernandes, a national gold medallist, and young sub junior Para player Rayansh Sawant emerged winners in the Para Wheelchair and Para Standing categories respectively at the YMCA Table Tennis Tournament 2026, held at the Indoor Stadium, Campal.
Lloyd who is ranked one in India defeated Stany D’Souza in the Para Wheelchair final 3-0, while Mahesh Pagala and Vishant Nagvekar were the semifinalists. In the Para Standing category, Rayansh downed Ritesh Vaigankar 3-0 in the final, with Gopal Naik and Zulkas Beig finishing as semifinalists.
The Para tournament, organised by YMCA Panjim in association with the Goa Table Tennis Association and Sports Authority of Goa (SAG), saw participation from 15 wheelchair and eight standing-category players, furthering the YMCA’s commitment to promoting inclusive sport. Meanwhile, in Veterans 40+ Doubles final, Sachin Soares and Venkatesh Burye, defeated former Goa state players Sandeep D’Mello and Suneet D’Mello in a commanding 3-0 win.
