Around 2,000 participants took part in the IDFC FIRST Bank Madgaon Half Marathon organised by Ballistic Runners Goa on Sunday.
The event featured four categories — 21K half marathon, 10K, 5K and 3K fun run — attracting runners and fitness enthusiasts from Goa and other parts of the country.
PWD Minister and Margao MLA Digambar Kamat congratulated the organisers on the event and said it promoted the message of “Fit India, Fit Goa and Fit Margao”.
“Taking care of health is very important in today's lifestyle, and such events help spread awareness. I am happy to see thousands of youth taking part,” Kamat said.
The organisers said the event aimed to promote fitness, community participation and healthy living, particularly among youngsters.
Ballistic Runners Goa also conducts a monthly group run on the last Sunday of every month, generally covering distances of 5km to 10km, besides organising training runs for participants preparing for running events in India and abroad.
Cash prizes and trophies were awarded to recognise performances in the men's and women's categories across different age groups, including the open category up to 35 years, 36–55 years, and 55 years and above.
