Maina Sports Club triumphed 2-1 over Benfica Youth Club to secure a spot in the quarterfinals of the 30th Mandopa Football Cup, held at the Mandopa Ground on Sunday.
The match started with an early goal from Benfica’s Sachin Borkar, who found the back of the net in the first minute of the game, giving Benfica a 1-0 lead. However, Maina Sports Club responded quickly, levelling the score just four minutes later when Vicky Cardozo struck in the 5th minute to make it 1-1.
Maina then took control of the game, and in the 13th minute, Anselm Fernandes scored the decisive goal, putting Maina ahead 2-1. Despite efforts from Benfica to equalise, Maina held on to their lead and secured the win, progressing to the next stage of the tournament.
