Mandopa SC reach home semifinals

Hosts Mandopa SC defeated Ambelim SC 3-0 to move into the semifinals of the 29th Mandopa Cup football tournament at Mandopa ground on Monday.

Mandopa opened their account in the 14th minute through Welington Almeida. They extended their lead in the 22nd minute through Meliston Dias, 2-0. In the second half, Mandopa scored their third goal in the dying minute through Premax Mascarenhas to seal a spot in the semifinals.

In a highly one-sided contest, Verna Sports Club dominated Varca Sports Club with a commanding 7-0 victory to enter the semifinals of the 16th Super Soccer tournament organised by United Club of Benaulim at St John the Baptist Dando ground, Benaulim on Monday.

Verna's relentless attack saw them take a big 3-0 lead by halftime, with goals from Andrus John (17'), Sheldon Pereira, and Fulganco Cardozo (25'). Varca struggled to find their footing and attempted to narrow the gap, but Verna's superiority remained evident.

Sheldon Pereira extended the lead for Verna with a goal in the 42nd minute, followed by Salvador Gama's quick brace (50th and 52nd minutes). Nevil Menezes sealed the rout in the 54th minute, capping off Verna's impressive performance.
