Goa Sports Council of Deaf (GSCD) organised All Goa Deaf Badminton Tournament on August 20 at SAG, Multipurpose Hall, Fatorda.
The matches were held in men's singles, women's singles and men's double categories. Renowned badminton coach in Goa Vinayak Kamat was the chief guest for the prize-giving ceremony.
In the address to the deaf players and participants, the chief guest Kamat appreciated the players and motivated them with some kind words. He also gave a short demonstration and important inputs about the game which enriched the knowledge of the players. Kamat also assured of his support and guidance for future deaf badminton tournaments. The umpires for the tournament, Jyotibha, Mrunal and Ajit also shared their feedback.
In the women's singles, Poorva Gauns won the gold, Mansi Marathe won the silver and Prachita Gaude won the bronze. In the men's singles, Prasad Joshi won gold, Rahul Kunkolienkar won silver and Isidorio Oliviera won the bronze.
In men's doubles, Prasad Joshi and Villory D'Silva won the gold medal, Ummid Ramani and Sunny Kalangutkar won the silver while Naresh Naik and Suzan Thaapa won the bronze.
