Rosary HSS of Navelim defeated The King’s School of Sao Jose de Areal 7-6 via sudden death to emerge as the champions of the U-17 Subroto Mukherjee Salcete Taluka girls football tournament played at Ambelim football ground.
The teams failed to score in regulation time. In the shootout, Rosary HSS proved to be the better shooters. Fatima Convent HS of Margao defeated Marina EHS of Verna 3-0 to bag third place. Zuriel Tavares, Shalaika Rodrigues and Lynn Fernandes netted a goal each for Fatima Convent.
Mt Mary’s, Perpetual, Fr Agnel, Rosary enter semis
Mount Mary’s HSS of Chinchinim, Perpetual Succour Convent HS of Navelim, Fr Agnel Multipurpose HSS of Verna and Rosary HS of Navelim cruised into the semifinals of the U-17 boys Subroto Mukherjee football tournament played at Ambelim and Cuncolim ground.
Mt Mary’s HSS defeated Fr Agnel HS of Verna 5-2. Clyde Pereira scored a brace while Gibbs Pinto, Calvin Fernandes and Nessio Pinto scored a goal each. A goal each by Kluivert Juliao and Samuel Colaco helped Perpetual Succour Convent HS to defeat Basilio Andrade HSS of Majorda.
Fr Agnel Multipurpose HSS defeated St Alex HSS of Curtorim 3-1. Preston Colaco, Christany Xavier and Aloysius Furtado scored for Fr Agnel HSS while Pheren Menezees reduced the margin for St Alex HSS. In the last match, Rosary HS Navelim easily outwitted Mae Dos Pobres HS of Nuvem 5-0. Sam Pereira scored a brace while Sweedon Costa, Manthan Salunke and Siddhesh Biswas were the other scorers
Sepaktakraw: Damodar HSS South Goa champs
Damodar HSS of Gudi Paroda defeated MES Higher Secondary School of Zuarinagar 18-21, 21-17, 21-14 to emerge champions of South District Sepaktakraw boys tournament organised by DSYA at Manohar Parrikar indoor stadium, Navelim.
Sapnesh Gaonkar, Dennis Oliveira, Sowell Fernandes, Clyon Fernandes and Visiton Fernandes represented Damodar HSS. The South District winners will now play for State championship against North Goa winners.
Daivadnya carrom tournament on Aug 27
PANAJI: The Daivadnya Samaj in association with the Goa Carrom Association will organise 2nd All Goa Daivadnya Carrom Tournament on Sunday, August 27 at Daivadnya Bhavan, Calconda, Margao.
The tournament will be held in four categories -- children up to 17 years, men between 18 to 49 years, women 18 years & above, and veterans 50 years & above. The entry fee for the above 18 category is Rs 200 and the below 17 category Rs 100.
