Mahendra Velip hit an unbeaten 64 to help Mandovi Pariwar beat Mashem Cricket Club by 8 wickets and clinch the title at 8th Canacona T20 cricket tournament organised by Polem Sports Club at Nirakar ground, Mashem.
Batting first, Mashem Cricket Club posted 121-8 with Santosh Satarkar top-scoring with 46. For Mandovi Pariwar, Sandesh Velip was the wrecker-in-chief, scalping 3 wickets. He was ably supported by Babu Chavan and Vishwadeep Dessai who claimed 2 wickets each.
While chasing the target, Mandovi Pariwar scored 123 for 2 in 16 overs. Mahendra Velip slammed 64 while Shivam Varik contributed a useful 37. Durgesh Prabhugaonkar and Pratik Satarkar claimed one wicket each for Mashem Cricket Club.
Mandovi Pariwar were richer by Rs 25,000 and the winner’s trophy while Mashem Cricket Club had to settle for Rs 15,000 and a trophy. Dr Venkatesh Prabhudesai, vice-president of Goa Cricket Association was the chief guest and handed over the prizes.
