Margao Sports Club beat St Rock’s Youth Club, Calata- Majorda 3-0 in the final of the All-Goa Late Jose Bento Furtado memorial Trophy inter-village football tournament organized by Navelim Villagers Union at Rosary Ground, Navelim on Wednesday.
Margao Sports Club opened the scoring in the 2nd minute through striker Edgar Noronha with a snap shot. Crossing over, Margao Sports Club continued to dominate the proceedings as Edgar Noronha registered his brace in the 48th minute with a rasping shot. Valito Noronha scored the last goal.
Margao Sports Club were richer by Rs 40,000 while St Rock’s Youth Club had to settle for Rs 30,000.
Sports Minister Manohar Babu Azgaonkar was the chief guest and gave away the
prizes in the presence of Fr Americo Rodrigues, assistant parish priest Our Lady of
Rosary Church, Navelim; Avertano Furtado, former Fisheries minister; Shubert Furtado, former GFA South Goa vice president;
Edwin Cipru Cardozo, ZP Member; Prakash Dessai, GFA executive member; Wilma
Silva, sarpanch of VP Navelim; Estevan Goes, sarpanch of VP Telaulim and other dignitaries.
