MES Vasant Joshi College of Arts & Commerce, Zuarinagar and Dnyanprassarak Mandal’s College and Research Centre, Assagao clinch comprehensive wins on Day 7 of the Goa University Inter Collegiate Cricket Women Championship 2024-25.
In the first match of the day, MES Vasant Joshi College of Arts & Commerce, Zuarinagar, delivered a dominant performance, securing a resounding 10-wicket victory over Goa College of Engineering, Farmagudi.
Goa College of Engineering won the toss and chose to bat first. However, they struggled against a disciplined M.E.S. College bowling attack, managing to score just 53 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in their allotted 15 overs. Riya Naik top-scored with 19 runs off 18 balls, while Vaishnavi Phadke contributed 3 runs from 15 deliveries. For M.E.S. College, Pooja Yadav was the pick of the bowlers, claiming an impressive 3 wickets for just 8 runs, with Aradhna Saroj supporting her with 2 wickets for 14 runs.
Chasing a modest target, M.E.S. College made quick work of the chase, reaching 54 runs without losing a single wicket in just 6.5 overs. Harshada Kadam led the charge with a quickfire 29 runs off 19 balls, while Pooja Yadav continued her stellar performance, scoring 16 runs off 22 balls.
The standout performer of the match was undoubtedly Pooja Yadav from M.E.S. College, Zuarinagar, who contributed both with the bat (16 runs) and ball (3 wickets for 8 runs).
The second semi-final saw another emphatic 10-wicket victory, this time for Dnyanprassarak Mandal’s College and Research Centre, Assagao, against Govt. College of Arts, Science & Commerce, Khandola.
Govt. College Khandola won the toss and elected to bat first. They managed to put 67 runs on the board for the loss of 6 wickets in their 15 overs. Sanika was the top scorer with 17 runs off 28 balls, and Savi Gaude added 6 runs from 21 deliveries. Tanaya Naik was the star with the ball for DM’s College, Assagao, taking 3 crucial wickets for just 10 runs, while Tanaya Mapsekar chipped in with 2 wickets for 19 runs.
In reply, DM’s College, Assagao, cruised to victory, scoring 68 runs without any loss in just 7.3 overs. Tanaya Naik continued her excellent form, scoring 20 runs off 22 balls, and Pallav played a blistering innings, remaining unbeaten on 42 runs off just 23 balls.
Tanaya Naik from DM’s College, Assagao, was the star performer in this match, showcasing her all-round abilities with both bat (20 runs) and ball (3 wickets for 10 runs).
