MES Vasant Joshi College of Arts & Commerce, Zuarinagar emerged victorious against the Dnyanprassarak Mandal’s College and Research Centre in Assagao, securing the Goa University Inter-Collegiate Cricket Women Championship by eight wickets, which took place at the Goa University ground.
In the opening inning, DM’s College, Assagao, successfully accumulated a total of 140 runs while losing 4 wickets for 20 overs.
The top performers with the bat were Tanaya Naik, who scored 98 runs off 76 balls, and Pallavi, who contributed 17 runs from 20 balls.
On the bowling side for M.E.S. College, Pooja Yadav claimed 2 wickets for 19 runs.
In the second inning, MES Vasant Joshi College successfully achieved a total of 141 runs for the loss of 2 wickets in 19.2 overs, claiming the victory.
Harshada Kadam was the top scorer with 56 runs off 59 balls, while Aradhana Saroj contributed significantly with 47 runs from 43 balls.
On the bowling side for DM’S College, Tanaya Naik took 1 wicket for 15 runs. Additionally, Sanika Dhuri claimed 1 wicket, giving away 30 runs.
The best performer of the match was Harshada Kadam from MES College, Zuarinagar, who scored 56 runs in 59 balls.
Best Player of the championship was also awarded to Harshada Kadam from M.E.S. College, Zuarinagar for being the most valuable player of the tournament for scoring 120 runs in 4 innings at average of 120 and strike rate of 112.15 in which 56 being highest score in the finals and also taking 1 wicket at economy of 3.20. In Fielding, her contribution was 9 dismissals, including 5 catches and 4 run-outs.
The valedictory ceremony was honored by the presence of Dr. Kotagiri Srinivas Rao, Associate Professor in V.M. Salgaocar College of Law. The event also featured Guest of Honor Dr. Sushant Haldankar, College Director of Physical Education and sports, DM’S College, Assagao and Dr. Savio Fernandes, College Director of Physical Education and sports, MES College, Zuarinagar, along with Balachandra B. Jadar, Assistant Director of Physical Education and Sports at Goa University. Together, they presented medals and trophies to the finalists.
