Goa Ranji captain Darshan Misal defeated Tunish Sawkar in the final to emerge champion of the B G Bukkam Memorial single wicket cricket tournament played at SAG ground, Curchorem.
In all, top 16 cricketers were invited to the tournament. Darshan received a cash prize of Rs 25025 and a trophy while Tunish Sawkar had to be content with Rs 15025 and a trophy. The third place was bagged by Deepraj Gaonkar with a cash prize of Rs 10025 and a trophy.
Earlier, the tournament was declared open by GCA President Vipul Phadke in the presence of Hon Secretary of GCA Rohan Gauns Dessai and MLA of Curchorem Nilesh Cabral. Balkrishna Hodarkar was the chief guest and handed over the prizes in the presence of Rupesh Naik, GCA Jt Secretary, Sachin Bukkam and Avdhoot Amonkar.
The results: Pre-quarters matches - Darshan Misal beat Mohit Redkar, Imran Mulla beat Aditya Suryavanshi, Veer Yadav beat Ishaan Gadekar, Tunish Sawkar beat Saish Sawant, Heramb Parab beat Manthan Khutkar, Deepraj Gaonkar beat Yash Kasvankar, Shantanu Nevgi beat Shubham Desai, Rahul Mehta beat Aryan Narvekar; Quarter-finals results - Tunish Sawkar beat Shantanu Nevgi, Rahul Mehta beat Imran Mulla, Deepraj Gaonkar beat Veer Yadav, Darshan Misal beat Heramb Parab; Semifinals- Tunish Sawkar beat Rahul Mehta, Darshan Misal beat Deepraj Gaonkar. Final- Darshan Misal beat Tunish Sawkar.
