A new multipurpose sports turf in Camurlim was inaugurated by Savio Madeira, All India Football Federation, Head of Coach Education, recently.
The new facility, which will cater to four different sports disciplines of hockey, tennis, cricket and futsal, is spread over an area of 4,500 square metres.
The project is a joint venture between Vaz Dynamic Sports and Veerendra Souza Ferrao, the land owner, with Nave Marg chipping in as sponsors. The facility is built by Vaz Dynamic Sports and the logistics will be managed by them.
“It’s a multipurpose turf and people can book the court... it will help promote these sports,” said Charlton Vaz, Managing director of Vaz Dynamic Sports.
Charlton, a former I-League footballer and now a qualified futsal coach, will be running the day-to-day affairs of the sports courts along with his brother Joshuah Vaz.
For Vaz Dynamic Sports, this is the second turf they have built and they will be managing in Goa. In January this year, they launched a football training facility Kingsturf in Verna, which is the first project designed and executed by Vaz Dynamic Sports for Reynold Abranches. The Verna court is an artificial turf ground spread over an area of 800 square metres.
On the occasion of the inauguration, Dr Celso Fernandes of Nave Marg Foundation, a trained dentist and now a financial consultant, released his seventh book on how to manage finances.
Veerendra Souza Ferrao, who provided the land for the project, said: “I had a piece of land which was used for practice to sharpen my son’s goalkeeping skills and at times some friends used to come and play there. I felt why not get proper state-of-the-art turf and a professional who could train the youth and provide them with the right guidance.
He thanked Dr Celso and Joshua Vaz and the rest of the team for taking up the project.
