Mushtifund High School registered a convincing 78-run win over Dr K B Hedgewar HS in the final of the U-16 Dilip Sardessai Cup Tiswadi Zone played at SAG, Campal, Panaji on Saturday.
Electing to bat, Mushtifund posted a formidable 217/9 in the allotted 40 overs. Aryan Mashelkar top-scored with a 75-ball 52 studded with four hits to the ropes. In the Hedgewar attack, right-arm medium-pacer, Sachin Pandey had the best returns with 3/46 from his quota.
Chasing a stiff target, Hedgewar were reeling at 40/3 after the tenth over. This was when Yash Muzumdar joined Sachin Pandey batting on 33 to raise a vital fourth-wicket partnership of 67 runs
in 13 overs.
But with Muzumdar falling for 26 (36, 4x4), wickets began to fall at regular intervals. Pandey was out for 38 (59b, 4x4) with the side looking down the barrel on the score 121/6 at the start of the 29th over. The side was eventually all out for 139 in
32.2 overs.
