The Billiards and Snooker Association of Goa (BSAG) is set to host an All India Snooker Championship from July 28-August 2 at the BSAG Cue Sports Academy, Athletics Stadium Complex, Bambolim.
The tournament has already generated a lot of interest all over India and abroad. Many of the top Indian players from Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Assam, besides the State players, are slated to play in the tournament.
Top players who have confirmed participation include Rafat Habib, Vijay Nachani and B Ganesh from Tamil Nadu; Faizal Khan from Delhi; Anurag Giri from Madhya Pradesh; and Viren Sharma, Mukund Bhardiya and Shabaz Khan from Maharashtra.
There will be a total prize purse of Rs 1,00,000 with the winner taking home Rs 40,000. The matches will be live streamed on Cue Sports India, a major portal related to the sport. The proceeds of the event will be used to train and nurture school kids, who have taken up the game, the organisers said in a press statement issued by BSAG president, Sunil Morajkar.
