MARGAO: Navelim Villagers Union booked their place in the quarterfinals of the 27th All Goa Our Lady of Merces 8-A-Side Inter-Village Football Tournament after defeating Don Bosco Oratory, Fatorda 1-0 in the inaugural match at the Chinchinim Church Grounds on Friday.
Navelim Villagers Union scored the match-winner in the 40th minute when Sweedon Costa found the back of the net with a well-taken finish.
The tournament was officially inaugurated by Fr. Jervino Fernandes, Chaplain of Sirlim Chapel, while Fr. Clive Dinis attended as the guest of honour for the opening match.
