MARGAO
Navelim Villagers started the game in attacking fashion with former Dempo central defender Covan Lawrence initiating the attacks. And it did not take long for them to break the deadlock as Avlon slotted past the rival goalkeeper to give Navelim Villagers an early lead.
The minutes after a goal is at times the most vulnerable position for the scoring team and Navelim allowed Davorlim an opportunity just 30 seconds after their opener when Agnelo Colaco was allowed the time and space to shoot, but his weak attempt didn\'t trouble the Davorlim goalkeeper.
It started to become an end to end game and there were many notable incidents. Navelim appealed for a penalty when Anil Shivolker went down to a challenge from Clifton Rebello. But the referee ruled it as a clean tackle.
Post resumption, Davorlim pressed for the equalizer as their forwards pressed the rival defence with coordinated raids. After a brief lull, Navelim Villagers made inroads into the rival territory. Avlon was in the thick of action and struck a second time in the 55th minute, scoring with a stiff shot off Ariston Costa.
