Navy Open windsurfing championship concludes

Indian Naval Watermenship Training Centre, Goa, under the aegis of Indian Naval Sailing Association & YAI, organised the third Navy Open windsurfing championship on the picturesque waterfront off INWT, Vasco from May 2-6.

The championship was organised for the second time in Goa by Indian Navy with an aim to develop windsurfing in both youth and senior category.   

Stiff breeze and stiffer competition greeted all the 53 participants from INWTCs of Goa, Mumbai, Karwar and Kochi, Yatching Associations of Orissa and Goa, Sports Beach Academy Baga, Dolphin Adventure Club Dauna Paula, Sail Dr Goa, Emesa Hyderabad and Pune. A total of 10 races were conducted which tested the windsurfers and tacticians to the hilt. The price distribution was held on Regatta Evening at INWTC (Goa) on May 6. The chief guest for the event was Rear Admiral Philipose George Pynumootil, NM, Flag Officer Commanding, Goa Naval Area.
