Nerul Sports Club registered a 10-9 win via sudden death over PVC Parra in the inaugural match of the 13th Reira Trophy 2019 inter village football tournament, organised by Saligao Sporting Club at Saligao Sporting Club ground, here on Saturday.
Nerul SC progressed to the quarterfinals. At the end of the regulation time, the teams were locked in a
2-2 draw.
In an evenly fought encounter, PVC Parra surged ahead in the sixth minute of play through Atish Mirajkar, who scored with a neat placement. On crossing over, Nerul’s Anand Madgaonkar managed to level the terms in the 50th minute as he scored with a stiff grounder.
As the match progressed, once again Parra took the lead through a smart header from Joyston Cardoz.
However, just a minute before the final whistle, Akash of Nerul equalised. The winners were finally decided by the marathon tiebreaker.
