Niraj, Ameya suffer losses

Following their commendable performances in round three, Goa's Niraj Saripalli and Ameya Audi went down fighting in the fourth round of the 55th National Challengers Chess Championship held at Ahmedabad, Gujarat, on Tuesday.

Niraj was overpowered by Akash PC Iyer in the fourth round, while Ameya Audi went down against Pranavananda V Devesh. Anand Naik and Sairaj Dilip Vernekar were also beaten by their respective opponents. Earlier in round 3, Niraj who was paired against International Master Padmini Rout (2327 rating) showed no signs of nervousness as played out a vital draw.

BSAG snooker tourney first leg on Aug 19

Billiards and Snooker Association of Goa (BSAG) will conduct All Goa Major Ranking Snooker tournament, to be held in four legs at various centres across Goa. The opening leg will be held at the Cue Sports Academy, at Athletics Stadium, Cujira, Bambolim, on August 19, 9 am onwards.
