In an evenly contested match, both the teams displayed attacking flair and slowly Mount Mary's Higher Secondary took over the reigns and came close in taking the lead in the 5th minute when Shaiyam Basnet received the ball from Jabiull Shaik and the former rallied it to Jabiull Shaikh who sped down the rival penalty box. However it was thwarted by Puran Chand with a neat tackle.
At the other end, Our Lady of Succour came agonisingly close but Sweton Fernandes' header missed by a whisker. Nagoa School's breakthrough came in the 10th minute when striker Asten Fernandes unleashed a snap shot that crashed into the net, giving no chance to the rival goalkeeper.
However, their joy was short-lived when Akshay Konkre's smart header eluded the Our Lady of Succour goalkeeper in the 26th minute.
The second half become livelier as both the teams showed attacking intent and Mount Mary's Higher Secondary had a couple of scoring opportunties but Myron Coelho and Edwin Baa's attempts at the rival goal lacked the killer instinct. In the ensuing tie-breaker, James D'Sa, Asten Fernandes, Sweton Ferandes, Swton D'Sa and Valanco Rodrigues were on target for Our Lady of Succour School school, Nagoa, while Ralston Mascarenhas, Akshay Konkre and Shaiyam Basnet scored for Mount Mary's.
In other matches, Fr Basilio Andrade HSS, Majorda defeated Our Lady of Rosary HS, Fatorda 3-0 via the tie-breaker. In the resultant tie-breaker, Fr Basilio Andrade HSS netted through Maywon D'Mello, Valino Fernandes and Elton Baptista. Auxillium High School,Benaulim thrashed AIM English HS of Rumdamol, Davorlim 5-0. For Auxillium HS, Presley Cardozo netted a hat-trick while Preton Fernandes and Keegan Fernandes added their name on the score sheet.
