Our Lady of Rosary High School, Fatorda registered a fluent 3-1 win over Assumpta Convent High School, Sarzora to cruise into the semifinals of 4th St Joseph Vaz Under-17 inter school football tournament, organised by Mount Mary’s High School, Chinchinim at Church Ground, Chinchinim on Friday.
Our Lady of Rosary High School dominated the game, but it was Assumpta Convent who scored first when Senio Olveira beat the rival goalkeeper with a neat finish. However the joy was short-lived and four minutes later, Maxwell Furtado equalised with a snap shot. In the 15th minute, Jordan Borges gained the lead for the winners when he punted the ball to the far corner of the net.
The second half belonged to Our Lady of Rosary who tormented the rival defence with raid after raid. Veljoie Pinto scored the third goal in the 40th minute.
In the second quarterfinal, St Rita’s High School beat St Jude High School Betalbatim 4-2. The high light of the match was a brilliant hat-trick by Jovial Dias. Myran Silva was the other scorer for St Rita’s. Raj Karkar and Suel Khan scored for the Betalbatim school.
