Paldem SC secured their spot in the finals of the 5th Cumborda Sports Club football tournament with a 2-0 win over Agxem SC at the St Alex Church ground, Curtorim, on Thursday. Both teams showcased impressive skills in front of a sizeable crowd, but it was Paldem SC who took the lead in the 30th minute when Finley finished off a fine pass from Godwin. Agxem SC responded by increasing the tempo, with Alroy missing a clear opportunity to equalise. Despite continuous attacks, their efforts were denied by Paldem goalkeeper Seby, who stood tall between the posts. Paldem sealed the victory in the 40th minute through a brilliant free-kick from Sherwin. Alroy Gomes of Agxem SC was named Man of the Match.

Pinto Memorial TT on Oct 18
PANAJI: The 7th Dr Filipe Pinto Memorial All-Goa Table Tennis Tournament will be held on October 18, at Clube Tennis de Gaspar Dias, Panaji, from 9 am onwards. The tournament is being organised by Kabir Pinto Makhija under the aegis of the Goa Table Tennis Association along with GVTTA. It will be played in the doubles format and will feature two categories “ Masters and Elite. Entries can be submitted to Dinesh Sinari (9890928201) or Clyde Barreto (8805912178) by 5 pm on October 14.

Phadke elected GVCA president
MARGAO: Vinod Phadke, former president of the Goa Veteran Cricket Association (GVCA), has been unanimously elected president of the Goa Veteran Association for the 2025“2028 term at a recently held general body meeting. Dr Sagar Salgaokar has been elected as the new vice president. Other committee members are: Vice President: Yeshwant Desai, Secretary: Sudesh Prabhudesal, Treasurer: Sudesh Rane, Joint Secretary: Sanjay Naik, Members: C Ashok, Nitin Chopdekar, Praveen Blaggon, Anand Majalikar, Damodar Naik. The meeting also discussed the calendar for the upcoming season, with the All Goa Veterans League scheduled to be held in November at two venues.
