MUMBAI
A day ahead of the ICC World Twenty20 semi-final clash against the West Indies, India have been dealt a major blow as all-rounder Yuvraj Singh, who got injured during the win against Australia on Saturday, was ruled out of the tournament with his ankle being diagnosed with a tear.
Manish Pandey, who was inducted into the India squad on Monday as cover for Yuvraj, was named as the official replacement on Wednesday. The 34-year-old left-hander had twisted his ankle and on Wednesday the BCCI announced that he won't be taking further part in the event.
Pandey, on Tuesday, had a net session at the Brabourne Stadium along with Ajinkya Rahane, but team director Shastri said the management hasn't yet decided on the replacement in the eleven.
"We have not decided, because Manish has just joined the party. We will take a good look at everything in the nets and see what will be our best option for Thursday's game," he said.
