MAPUSA
Penha de France and Club Sao Minguel de Taleigao played out a dreary goalless draw in a tenth round fixture of the GFA First Division League encounter at Duler Satadium, Mapusa as the weekend crowd was left awfully disappointed by the lackadaisical performance Sunday evening.
The first scoring opportunity came for the Taleigao outfit in the eighth minute when Shashank Naik’s drilled grounder missed the target by a few inches. Thereon, opportunities came at Penha’s end off the boots of their key player Joston Pereira with both the long rangers being off the mark.
Post resumption, Penha’s under-20 player, Ashok Megheri came close to netting the goal as the clock ticked a little over the hour mark.
In the 74th minute, Taleigao’s U-20 player Knerton Estrocio's valiant attempt with a header went a begging. With the last quarter of regulation time, both the sides came into life and tried to be more positive in their approach but the finishing was found lacking.
Close to regulation time, Joston after doing all the hard work, could not score as the back wall of the rivals unsighted him as he had an attempt at goal. The deadlock could not be broken when the final whistle was sounded.
