Third front no threat, BJP will win 30: Naik

Third front no threat, BJP will win 30: Naik

MARGAO

BJP State president Damu Naik on Saturday dismissed reports of a third front taking shape in Goa ahead of the Assembly elections, saying the BJP was not like parties that “spring up like mushrooms” during elections.

Naik asserted that irrespective of whether there was a third front, the BJP was poised to win 30 seats in 2027, including Fatorda.

Calling the proposed third front a move by “manipulators” and those who failed to get tickets, Naik expressed confidence that the BJP would retain power with the wholehearted support of the people.

“We have won the hearts of the people of Goa with our development work. Some people may think of forging alliances on the eve of elections. We have seen many parties that have come up like mushrooms on the eve of elections. They will not succeed and the BJP will retain power in Goa,” he said.

On the BJP’s alliance with the MGP, Naik said both parties were guided by the same ideology and had been allies. “Alliance talks with the MGP will start in the coming days,” he said.

On candidate selection, Naik said the party had a laid-down procedure. “There may be many ticket aspirants on the ground, but the party will take a call as per the laid-down procedure,” he said.

On contesting from Fatorda, Naik said he would ensure the lotus blooms there in 2027. “Fatorda will be among the 30 seats the BJP will win in 2027. I hail from Fatorda and have ushered in development in the constituency since 2002,” he said.
