Sao Jose de Areal is a village known for producing top footballers. Players of the ilk of Bento Andrew, Valente Fernandes, Inacio Viegas and Gilbert Olveira are from this village who have gone on to win laurels for the state and country.
Delton Colaco, a student of Bethany Convent High School, who also hails from Areal is walking in the footsteps of his illustrious predecessors and is determined to bring laurels to his village. The youngster has been picked to attend training at the U-Dream football in Germany. He will be trained in Germany by TSG Hoffenheim for a period of six years.
Meanwhile, Bethany Convent along with PTA felicitated Delton at the hands of former India coach Armando Colaco at a function held at school hall on Saturday. Mementos, gifts and bouquets were offered to Delton on behalf of the students and teachers of the school. Armando who was the chief guest also offered a personal gift to the budding footballer. Armando while congratulating Delton appealed to other students to draw inspiration from this talented player. Rev Sr Dr Trisilla B S along with PTA members were present on the occasion. Delton will leave for Germany en route Mumbai on August 20.
