A classy knock of 89 by Salil Korde and his 116-run partnership with Rohit Dhareshwar (41) paved way for a facile win for Ponda RCC over Borda RCC in a friendly 40 over match at Fatorda grounds, Margao.
Winning the toss and opting to field, the Borda captain thought his decision was right as Omprakash Lenka drew first blood in his second over when he bowled Shravan Prabhu for a duck. But Salil and Rohit took the score to 120 when Rohit was out. Salil was run out in the 39th over and Ponda finished with 198 for 6 in 40 overs.
Dewan Chitten (2 for 10) and Omprakash Lenka ( 2 for 30) were the pick of the Borda bowlers.
The Borda batsmen, Tushar Kudnekar (45) and Kaushal Singh (25) were right on target during the chase but sudden collapse, where three wickets went for 10 runs pushed Borda back and eventually finished with 155 for 9 in 40 overs. Omprakash Lenka showed his all round capabilities by remaining unbeaten on 29. Harsh scalped 4 for 20 to make the victory easier for Ponda.
