MARGAO: Hosts Ponda Footballers booked their place in the semifinals of the 36th St Ann's Inter-Village Soccer Tournament 2026 with a convincing 2-0 victory over Assnora United at the Animal Husbandry Ground, Curti-Ponda, on Saturday.
The tournament is supported by the Sports Authority of Goa (SAG) and powered by the Madhavrao Dhavlikar Charitable Trust.
Ponda Footballers dominated the proceedings and took the lead through Atharva Ghadi, who finished clinically after a well-constructed move. Roytson Vaz later doubled the advantage to ensure a comfortable win and seal the hosts' passage to the last four.
With the victory, Ponda Footballers set up a semifinal clash against Nerul Sports Club, scheduled to be played on July 14.
Atharva Ghadi was adjudged the Man of the Match for his impressive performance. The award was presented by former footballer Martin Pires.
