Portais Sporting Club got the better of Vaddy Sports Club 4-3 in a GFA Second Division (Ilhas Zone) clash at Goa Velha grounds, on Thursday.
Portais SC were the pace-setters securing a 2-0 lead inside half an hour with goals coming from Piedade Colaco (22') and Monit Jalmi (26'). Coming back strongly from a 0-2 deficit, Vaddy SC reduced the margin shortly after through Ramesh Priolkar (31') to get back into the game. But Portais' Clive Coelho had other plans and increased the lead again to 3-1 in the 34th minute. The score stayed the same at lemon break.
Post resumption, Vaddy's Damodar Verlekar was soon to strike (47') to get his side back in the game at 2-3. But Portais' Piedade Coelho netted his second goal in the game soon after (51') to have their formidable rivals valiantly chase the game. As the clock ticked away to regulation time, Valerian Rodrigues of Vaddy SC found the back of the nets in the 89th minute but it was left a little too late with his team going down fighting 3-4. Derryl D'Souza (57') and Alexandre Estrocio (89') both of Portais received cautions in the game.
In an U-18 GFA game at Candolim, Kevnem Sports Club and Assonora SC shared the spoils with a 1-1 scoreline.
