Sesa FA scored a 90+5th minute equaliser through Vishnu Gosavi as the academy side held Salgaocar FC to a 1-1 draw in the Selvel Goa Professional League at Duler Stadium, Mapusa, on Thursday.
Saeesh Halarnkar scored in the 66th minute to put the Port Towners ahead. However, Sesa FA were clearly the better side, maintaining proper shape and enjoying better ball possession in the game. The academy side looked threatening in their attacks but their moves fizzled out in the final third against some good defending from the Salgaocar back line.
Sesa FA had a couple of chances created early in the game. Rizbon Fernandes missed twice as he was denied by Salgaocar keeper Jason D'Meloon on both the occasions. At the end of the first quarter, Salgaocar managed to get into the Sesa FA area but before Shubham could do much, his goal-bound shot was blocked by Sesa’s Dhruvesh.
In the 26th minute, Salgaocar had an opportunity to test the keeper as they were awarded a free-kick just outside the box when Dhurvesh brought down Shubham. Sidharth Kundaikar curled in the free-kick but Sesa keeper Roanal Gaunkar was up to the task.
At the half-hour mark, Sesa had a couple more chances. Vishnu Gosavi ran down the right flank and tried to find Aston Rodrigues in the box. But before the latter could get the ball, Salgaocar's Selwyn Miranda made a timely interception. There were crosses flying in and shots fired from distance but Salgaocar just couldn't hit the target. At the other end, Sesa's Domnic had a chance to score but he fired wide from inside the box.
Nothing changed in the second half. Sesa kept on pressing for the goal but it was Salgaocar who managed to score the first goal of the game in the 66th minute. Umang Gaikwad sent a perfect delivery in the area to an unmarked Saeesh, whose shot deflected off a Sesa player into the goal.
After their continuous efforts, Sesa FA's efforts were rewarded with a 95th-minute equaliser. Substitute Mohammed Faheez whipped in a cross in the box which was guided in by Vishnu to steal the points from Salgaocar FC.
