Team Mamata bracing to do a Bengal in Goa

MAMATA DIDI'S TMC poll managers seem to be bracing up for a major push in the state ahead of the 2022 Assembly polls. I-PAC’s Prashant Kishor is back in Goa and has reportedly conducted a review of the political situation unfolding in the state. If political observers say the initial euphoria generated by TMC’s debut has somewhat seen a downslide, TMC’s poll managers in private say the real action is yet to come. The party which reportedly bagged majority votes from the minorities and minority vote from the majority in Bengal to tame the saffron brigade in Bengal may look forward for a similar situation in Goa. Wait and watch.

Girish pockets Calangute & Mapusa as well

ASK GPCC Chief Girishbab Chodankar over the number of seats the Congress would win in the ensuing polls. And apt comes the reply, exuding confidence of forming the government in 2022. Question him further to name a couple of seats and don’t be surprised if Girishbab’s list contains seats such as Calangute and Mapusa to name a few. Sounds surprising, isn’t when these two seats are represented by BJP Minister Michaelbab Lobo and MLA Joshuabab D’Souza. Has Michaelbab anything to say on Girishbab’s claim.

Spotlight on Benaulim, Varca over Chuchill tickets

WILL VARCA strongman Bab Churchill get his NCP bosses give two tickets for him and daughter Valankabai in the 2022 polls? The duo is believed to have made a firm demand with NCP supremo Sharad Pawar and the all-powerful general secretary Praful Patel to nominate them in Benaulim and Navelim respectively. State Congress leaders may not be averse to forging an alliance with like-minded political parties. The moot question remains unanswered “ will the Congress concede the Navelim seat to the NCP. Wait and watch as state Congress leaders are firmly opposed to any move to give the Navelim seat to the NCP.

Cong office on 5th floor, PC prefers ground floor

LOCAL CONGRESS leaders may take pride in having offices in North and South districts. Congress election observer P Chidambaram, however, seemed not very much impressed with the office in down South housed on the fifth floor of a building adjoining South district Collectorate. In fact, PC is believed to have rooted for a spacious office, preferably on the ground floor on land owned by the party. Have party leaders, including those who became Chief Ministers and Ministers, any answer?

TMC makes a beginning on Digambar’s turf

WHEN OPPOSITION leader’s close aide and Margao Mahila Congress Chief Dorrisbai Texeira quit the Congress to embrace TMC on Friday, tongues started wagging if it’s just a matter of time before Digambar too would move out of the party. That the Margao MLA tried to put a stop to the rumours saying that he will stay put in the Congress and is not going anywhere has helped cap speculations. Observers may say Dorisbai’s decision may not affect Digambar in a big way. One thing, however, remains clear the TMC has made a beginning in Digambar’s fiefdom.

THE TWO-DAY ensuing session may turn out the last session of the current five-year term of the Goa Legislative Assembly. The end of the session, many believe, may turn out the beginning of the battle for the 2022 Assembly polls. Political observers are keenly watching the movements of Mamata Didi’s Trinamool Congress. Sources say poll strategist Prashant Kishor is likely to visit the state mid-next week, this time with fresh ideas and new plans for Goa. Will Didi follow suit…
