PYSC Vagator overwhelmed Portias SC 3-0 in a 2nd Division North Zone play-off match played at Duler grounds, on Monday.
In the 17th minute, PYSC Vagator went into the lead through Nitesh Salgaonkar. Six minutes later, the Vagator side was lucky not to concede as a punch by their stop-gap goalkeeper Anson D’Souza hit the upright and rebounded back in play. Going into half-time, PYSC Vagator held on to their single-goal lead. Post resumption, and an hour into the match, the Vagator side furthered their dominance by doubling their lead through Anand Kerkar. Ten minutes before regulation time, Amar Kinlekar compounded the problems for Portais when he was red-carded for a reckless challenge on Nitesh Salgaonkar.
Rubbing salt into their wounds, Vagator’s Manuel Fernandes made it 3-0 for his side with a stunning long-ranger to seal the fate of the match.
