MARGAO: Raia Sporting Club advanced to the quarter-finals of the 34th Curtorim Panchayat Cup inter-village football tournament organised by Curtorim Gymkhana after defeating Sporting Club of Davorlim 4-1.
Sydney Gaunkar opened the scoring with a powerful solo effort in the 16th minute and doubled Raia’s lead four minutes later. Davorlim pulled one back in the 23rd minute, but Raia went into the break with a 2-1 advantage.
Archilles Fernandes extended Raia’s lead in the 45th minute, while the winners added another goal in the 55th minute to complete the victory.
Curtorim Panchayat member Egsina D’Souza was the chief guest and presented the Man of the Match award to Raia’s Sydney Gaunkar.
