Raunaq dominates on Day 1

Raunaq Pai dominated proceedings in the Raceboard Men’s class on Day 1 of the All India Board Sailing Championship organised by the Goa Yachting Association (GYA) and Volvo Penta, at the Dolphin Adventure Sports Centre, Hawaii beach, Dona Paula on Thursday. Raunaq won two of the three races, and stood second in the third race.

David Estibeiro was the leader in the Raceboard Youth class, Russel Lobo in the RS: One Youth class and Rhea Fernandes in the Raceboard Women’s Class. Other sailors who shone on the day were Cany Rodrigues in Raceboard Men, Narayan Munda of Orissa in Raceboard Youth, Katya Coelho of Goa in RS:One Youth and Megan Fernandes in Raceboard Women.

At present, Goa is dominating all the four classes being sailed, in a field which comprises sailors from all over the country, including the Indian Army. Four races will be held on Friday, the second day of this championship which is sponsored by Volvo Penta, at the Dolphin Adventure Sports Centre, Hawaii beach, Dona Paula. Races will start at 11 am (two races) and at 3 pm (two races).
