Regina Martyrum High School, Assolna, overcame the challenge of St Thomas High School, Cansualim, 2-1 and entered the quarter-finals of St Joseph Vaz inter-school football tournament organised by Mount Mary's High School, Chinchinim, at church ground, Chinchinim, on Friday.
Regina Martyrum High School's breakthrough came in the 12th minute when Jasvir Crasto beat the rival goalkeeper with rasping shot. In the 24th minute, Rahul Magennavar neutralised the lead with thumping header off a well-executed flag-kick taken by Amanulla
Hodekar.
Post resumption, both the teams went all out in search of an equaliser and with time running out, Jasvir Crasto struck the match-winner. In another match, Assumpta Convent HS, Sarzora, beat St Rock HS, Tolecanto, 4-2 via tie-breaker.
In the ensuing penalty shootout, Nigel, Chadel, Myron and Edsel found the mark for Assumpta Convent, while Rinson and Jeriton scored for St Rock's Tolleacanto.
