Sixteen teams from South Goa will lock horns in the inaugural Rising Cup 2018
inter-village football tournament at the Government Village School playground, Cuncolim on August 24. The tournament is organized by St Cruz Club of Poitomado-Cuncolim in association with Rising Club, Sanvorcotto- Cuncolim.
Cuncolim Union will meet St Rock’s Youth Club, Calata-Majorda in the opening match on August 24. The tournament will be played on a knock-out basis. Organizing chairman Jerryton Dias informed the media at a press conference on Monday that 16 teams from South Goa will be vying for top honours. It will be a feast for football buffs and spectators who will get to see the most talented stars from the villages.
The teams are Ambelim Sports Club, Rossman Cruz Nagoa Sports Club, United Boys of Palolem, Navelim Villagers Union, Parish Youth Nuvem, CRC Chinchinim, Varca Sports Club and Sao Jose de Areal SC who are in A group while Cuncolim Union, St Rock’s YC of Majorda, Fr Agnelo Youth Sports Club of Paroda, Wilred Leisure Sports Club of Curtorim, Chandor Sports Club, Don Bosco Oratory Sports Club, United Club of Benaulim and Sporting Club of Davorlim are in B group.
The winners will be richer by Rs 60,000 while the runners-up will get Rs 40,000 besides glittering trophies.
