River Pool Boys Chandor blanked Zico Boys Verna 2-0 to win the United Boys of Cottoca football tournament organised by United Boys of Cottoca at Mandopa Ground on Sunday.
River Pool Boys dominated the proceedings and broke the deadlock when Rizwan slotted past the rival goalkeeper with a snap shot. Spurred by the early success, River Pool Boys intensified their attacks and made some sorties in opposition half without success.
The second half continued in same vein and River Pool Boys doubled the lead when Rizwan beat the rival goalkeeper with a stinging shot. At the other end, Zico Boys tried to rally but they could not breach the stubborn rival defence.
River Pool Boys won a prize of Rs 40,000 beside the winning trophy while Zico Boys had to settle for a prize of Rs 30,000 and a trophy. Rizwan of River Pool Boys was named as the first scorer while Alex of Zico Boys was adjudged as the best forward.
Fr Mauvin Menezes was the chief guest at the prize presentation function and gave away the prizes.
