Rohit Cricketers win Sunshine Trophy

Mitesh Darbar's four wickets helped Rohit Cricketers, Vasco beat Siddhivinayak, Usgao by eight wickets to emerge the champions of All India Sunshine Trophy tennis ball cricket tournament organised by Sunshine Cricketers, Bendwada, Sanguem at Government ground, Sanguem on Monday.
Batting first, Siddhivinayak, Usgao could score just 43 for 7 in their stipulated 8 overs. Vijay Pawle was the top scorer with 14 runs while Ejaji Kureshi scored 10. Mitesh Darbar starred with the ball as he claimed four wickets for just three runs. In reply, Rohit Cricketers scored 45 for 2 in 4.2 overs with Sahid Shaikh cracking 24 runs as they achieved the target with eight wickets in hand.
Earlier, Rohit Cricketers defeated Goa Police by six runs while Siddhivinayak Cricketers overcame the challenge of Amazing Margao by 12 runs on the way to final. The winners were richer by Rs 2,11,000 and a trophy, while the runners-up had to settle for Rs 1,21,000 and a trophy. The losing semi-finalists were given Rs 50,000 each.
Sports Minister Babu Ajgaonkar was the chief guest and gave away the prizes in the presence of Margao MLA Digamber Kamat, Deepak Prabhu Pauskar and Prasad Gaonkar. The prize presentation function was compered by Sushant Naik and Nadeem Shaikh.

Siddhivinayak, 84 for 7 in 10 overs (Omkar Desai 18, Vijay Pawle 15; Naresh Asoldekar 3-17, Vicky Desai 2-19) beat Amazing Margao, 77 for 8 in 10 overs (Amit Naik 16, Naresh Assoldekar 20; Anas 3-8, Tukaram Konche 2-13). Man of the match- Omkar Desai (Siddhivinayak).
Final - Siddhivinayak, 43 for 7 in 8 overs (Vijay Pawle 14*, Ejaj Kureshi 10; Mitesh Darbar 4-3, Sibban Shaikh 2-15) lost to Rohit Cricketers, 45 for 2 in 4.2 overs (Shahid Shaikh 24, Bilal Shaikh 9). Man of the match- Mitesh Darbar (Rohit Cricketers).

MARGAO Mount Mary's, Nagoa scored a hard-fought 1-0 win over Rebello Pandal, Maina to win the Amblai Youth Panchwadi seven-a-side football tournament, held in memory of late Armstrong, at Mattem ground, Amblai, Panchwadi, on Monday.Mount Mary's started off brightly and created some half chances early on but their forwards failed to capitailise.
